Christian Aid

Service:  10:00 am Holy Communion

Preacher:  Fiona Daborn, Regional Co-Ordinator for Christian Aid in Somerset

Readings:  Acts 10:44-48 & John 15:9-17

Today we welcome Fiona Daborn from Christian Aid who will preach to us and tell us more about the work of Christian Aid. Ronnie King, who used to work for Christian Aid, will be preaching in the evening.  Christian Aid was one of the first charities into Nepal after the earthquake and there will be buckets at the back of church today for us to contribute to the appeal.  You will also find a Christian Aid envelope in your Today Sheet. This donation will go to the valuable work undertaken by Christian Aid world wide.

Christian Aid is a Christian organisation that insists the world can and must be swiftly changed to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.

They work globally for profound change that eradicates the causes of poverty, striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality. They are part of a wider movement for social justice.

Christian Aid provide urgent, practical and effective assistance where need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as its root causes.

Sermon Vacation

Please note that due to holiday, no sermons will be posted for the next two weeks covering Sundays 10th & 17th May.

The Good Shepherd

Service:  10:00 am Holy Communion

Preacher:  Revd Rod Corke

Readings:  Acts 4: 5-12 & John 10: 11-18

“Come all you vagabonds, come all you ‘don’t belongs’, winners and losers, come, people like me.

        Come all you travellers, tired from the journey, come wait awhile, stay a while, welcomed you’ll be.

Come those who worry ’bout houses and money, and all those who don’t have a care in the world;

        From every station and orientation, the helpless, the hopeless, the young and the old.

 Come self-sufficient with wearied ambition, and come whose who feel at the end of the road,

        Fiery debaters and religion haters, accusers, abusers, the hurt and ignored.

Come all believers and dreamers and schemers, and come all you restless just searching for home;

        Movers and shakers and givers and takers, the happy, the sad, the lost and alone.”
