St Mary Magdalene will be open this week for individual prayer on Wednesday from 10am until 12 noon (please note it will not be open on Monday or Friday). This is to allow for 72 hours between openings). We will be following strict social distancing rules and to ensure that we can keep the building safe and clean we will only be using the central part of the church. If necessary we may have to restrict the number of people that can be in the building at any one time There will be hand sanitisers at the entrance which will need to be used and face masks will be available if people want to use them.
We are delighted that we are now able to recommence services of worship at St Mary Magdalene. We remain subject to restrictions set out by the Government and the Church of England which include maintaining social distancing of 2 metres wherever possible.
To satisfy all the restrictions at St Mary’s it will be necessary to limit the number of people attending services to around 80. We, therefore, need to operate a booking system. Booking forms have either been sent by email or are in the post but if, for some reason, you do not receive one, please email or telephone the Benefice Office to say if you would like to attend a service in church on 2nd, 16th or 23rd August at 10am. Contact details are on the front of the Today Sheet.
It is hoped to resume additional services as soon as restrictions can be eased further.
The arrangements we are putting in place are to ensure members feel no fear of attending worship in St Mary’s taking account the need for social distancing, following a strict cleaning routine, not opening the church for 72 hours after each service and restricting week day opening for private prayer to Wednesdays only from 10 – 12 noon.
We will continue to upload virtual services on our websites for those not able to come to church.
