Our Patronal Festival is on Sunday 21st July, a very special day in the calendar of our church – when we honour Mary Magdalene.
St Mary Magdalene or Mary of Magdala (Magdala a small galilean town known for its fishing) is our patron Saint and we have heard many sermons about her over the years. Many things have been written about this female follower of Jesus over the centuries. The bible tells us that she was one of Jesus’ disciples and is most famous for seeing Christ first after His resurrection. She then went to tell the others about the fulfillment of the scripture on the first Easter morning and became the first Apostle. So let us rejoice in this significant day as this great Saint is celebrated in our churches this day. An emoji here would probably make my point very suitably! 👍🙂
