“We have been invited to decorate with yarn or yarnbomb (which is a form of decorating with knitting and crochet work) the railings and trees around St Mary Magdalene as part of the Taunton Live 2015 Summer Festival (celebrating the performing and creative arts) which will take place between 18th and 25th July.
The Needles and Natter group have discussed this and we thought we could make bunting by making rectangular pieces of knitting or crochet using liturgical colours i.e. Green, Red, Purple and White. After the project is over, we will recycle these rectangles by making them into blankets.
So if you have some spare time between now and the beginning of July and like to knit or crochet, either come and join us at our Needles and Natter Group – 2nd Wednesday of each month from 2:00 to 3:30pm in church, or make them in your home. Instruction sheets can be found at the back of church in a basket labelled “Banner Instructions”.
Please bring completed rectangles into church and put in the appropriate box which will be kept in the Book Shop.
If you want to find out more about this talk to Lorna Havard, Daphne Seddon, Shirley Farrington, Anita Kingscott, Jan Hay or me.”
