“Work has begun on preparing the St Mary’s and St John’s Benefice Profile document which will inform potential candidates for the post of Vicar all about the two churches. A team of PCC members will invite groups in the church to pen a paragraph or two about their group in a format which is suitable for going into the document.
We shall also need photographs to illustrate something of what we do and are involved in. We are fortunate in having a stock of these to go through but inevitably there will be the need for a few more. Please do not be surprised therefore to see photographs being taken around activities happening from time to time. Anyone who is uncomfortable about being included in a photograph should please let the churchwardens know. Parental consent will be obtained for photographs of any children.
The aim is to complete a draft document by the beginning of October for approval first by the PCC and then by Archdeacon Simon. In November the document will go to the church patrons – our Diocesan Bishop, Peter Hancock and the Church Patronage Trust – for their comments. The advertisement will be prepared and advertising arranged for early January.
If all goes well with this process, we can expect interviews to take place in February and an appointment made thereafter. Bearing in mind that a priest needs to give 3 months’ notice to his ‘employer’ we cannot expect a new Vicar to be in post until May and even that will depend on their personal circumstances.
