What a celebration we had at our last Worship@5 service . Marcus Paul came to talk about “Can I Change?” focusing on the conversion of St Paul. Our young people sang and played instruments and we worshipped God together. Over 90 people came. There will not be a Worship@5 (nor our 5.00pm Healing Service) in December but we look forward to welcoming everyone back again on the third Sunday of January when Rod will be tackling the difficult issue – ”Why does God Allow Suffering?” Why not invite a friend along.
Don’t forget that we have two big services for Advent Sunday on 3rd December. In the morning, at 10.00am, we have our annual Christingle Service. We hope many of you will come to see the orange Christingles being made and lit by our children.
The Baptism families have been invited especially so we’re am sure it will be a very happy and worshipful occasion.
In the evening, we have the spectacular “From Darkness to Light” service. At 7pm candles will fill our beautiful church with light again as we welcome in the Advent season with Advent carols and special musical items. The Ven. Simon Hill will preach. This gets more and more popular each year as we witness God’s light filling the church. Do come.
“WANTED – for the CHRISTINGLE SERVICE on 3rd December – Table candelabra, cupcake holders suitable for candles (the stubby/tall fatter sort) and branched candle holders . If you can lend them, please let Rod or myself know.
We are working on producing a new version of the Today Sheet, so look out for some different looking ones over the next few weeks!
If you are able to supply any of these we would be so grateful.
Diane & Derek

Following the successful and tasty launch last month, Andrew Carter will be presenting this month’s Organic Appetiser after the morning service on Sunday 26th Nov. Again a delicious appetiser will be served by our choral culinary experts, and Andrew will
demonstrate the famous Father Willis Great Reeds (Posaune and Clarion) in some stirring Spanish music. Please do stay for 15-20 minutes after the service to enjoy this musical and culinary feast! Retiring Collection for the Organ Renovation Fund.
I am pleased to say that, hopefully, we will soon have a new cross over the pulpit.
This will be made by Mr Harris, a local blacksmith.
The suggested design (it has to go to PCC for final approval) has been inspired by a necklace that Daphne Seddon wears. We plan to have it made in brass and steel.
St Mary Magdalene Church, Taunton, will again be offering this service for Advent Sunday – this year on Sunday 3rd December 2017 at 7.00 pm (please note 30 mins earlier than last year), starting by candlelight. We hope to bring in many people from all around to enjoy the advent atmosphere and hear moving music and readings to prepare for the Christmas season. There will be interesting and stimulating new music (including a new setting of People look East by John Bodiley) as well as classic advent carols for singers and instruments; also a rousing Advent address by the Archdeacon of Taunton, and seasonal refreshments. Please invite friends!
