We are delighted to give out today the new Church Family Worship booklets. Not only has the booklet been given a fresh new look, the Baptism service has been included in it, so there is one less card to worry about.
Sheila has done a lot of work on this and we thank her for all her efforts.
Last week we began to discuss two new projects. Here’s an update.
On Wednesday 29th January, the Social Team met and were brimming full of ideas to provide social activities for the congregation. These ideas are being compiled and on the last Sunday in February and first Sunday of March we will be inviting members of the congregation to select the type of activities they may be interested in. We will then plan a varied programme for the rest of the year. Exciting!
A group of us met on Tuesday 28th January to consider introducing a time when those who enjoy informal worship could lift praises to God. The group decided to meet again and we will be exploring and praying about the way God is leading us. If you would welcome a time of more informal worship, we would love to hear from you. Do see Rod.
Dunster Parish are visiting Zambia and have invited any folk from St. Mary’s who may wish to join them. It is arranged for 24/25 of July to 12/13 August. This will enable teachers and children to be members of the group. Dates out and return will be confirmed when those interested in booking a place indicate their preferred date. People can travel out early or return later if they wish to extend their stay.
Please speak to Rod if you are interested in going.
On Sunday 26th January Ronnie King received his PTO Licence as Reader in the Diocese and we are delighted to formally welcome him.
Ronnie has been a reader for 50 years and is married to Gillian. He has come from an active rural ministry in the Wylye Valley team in the Diocese of Salisbury. During his working life Ronnie has worked for Christian Aid and Mission to Seamen in an executive officer capacity. Ronnie will be leading the first part of the service today.
We welcome him among us as we enjoy his Reader’s ministry. He joins Daphne and Peter who are also PTO Readers.
