Harvest Festival Sunday

Choir & Choristers
Our worship at the 10am service on Sunday will be led by our choir and choristers, and we do hope that you will come and join us in this celebration, thanking God for his provision.

All We Can
In our 10am service we shall be focusing on work undertaken in Uganda by the organisation All We Can, where they help communities with water and sanitation projects. There will be a retiring collection for them. This is how your support could be used:
 £33 could train communities to manage and maintain a water pump, ensuring clean water is always available.
 £45 could provide parents with the training and tools to improve hygiene and sanitation at home, improving the health of the whole family.
Please give generously if you can; we have so much by comparison and they have so little.

Children & Communion B4 Confirmation
After this morning service, there will be a short meeting upstairs for parents of children over 7 years who are interested in having communion before confirmation.

Harvest Bring & Share Lunch
Also after the service we will be having our Harvest Bring and Share Lunch – do sign up for this at the back of church; there will be a suggested donation of £2 to cover the cost of drinks etc.   It would be lovely if some of our 8am and 6.30pm congregations could join us for the lunch.

Christianity Explored

The discipleship course, Christianity Explored, is being run soon and already folk have signed up at the back to join. If you feel your faith has become a bit stale, then this is the course for you. If you would like to find out what being a Christian really means, this is the place to find out. The course is relaxed, friendly and fun. It begins with refreshments and no one is put in any position where they will feel embarrassed.

We start on Wednesday 19th October, 7 pm in the Upper Room and continue through to the 30th November.  Everyone invited.  Why not sign up today?

Weekday Prayers

On Wednesday and Thursday prayers are said in church at 8.30am. On Friday  prayers are said during the communion service which begins at 8.00am.  On Saturday morning, parish prayers are said at 9.30am. You are welcome to join us at these times and may I encourage you to do so.  However, we would like prayers to be said on Monday and Tuesday mornings at St Mary’s and we are looking for people to lead these (maybe on a rota basis i.e. once a month). The prayers are in a set format and include Bible readings. The time this happens can be negotiated and assistance given if needed. Is God calling you to do this important ministry of praying for our benefice? Please see Shelia or Jean Lee if you would like to offer.

New Initiatives

As we begin to journey into the colour of the autumn season, church activities are beginning  to recommence and final touches are happening to our planning and preparation.

  • “Pudding Party”

One new initiative is to provide a meeting place and fellowship for younger church members who are in paid employment. At 7.30pm on 3rd December in the Coffee Shop, we are hosting a “Pudding Party” and we would love to see as many folk come to taste what will be a wonderful array of desserts. Do put this date in your diary. It will be great fun!

  • “A Tour of St Mary’s by Candlelight”

Another new idea this year will be “A Tour of St Mary’s by Candlelight.” Dennis and Rod will be taking folk around the church, explaining the history, telling stories and we will finish with refreshments in the Coffee Shop. This will replace our usual outreach to the shoppers and the dates and time will follow soon.
